The Donald Trump administration’s threat to annex Greenland, an autonomous part of Denmark, has plunged NATO into an unprecedented situation. An alliance based on collective defence where an attack on one is an attack on all, now faces the prospect that one member might attack another. Asked whether the United States had formally approached Denmark about acquiring Greenland, Trump brushed aside diplomacy and delivered a blunt message. Greenland, he said, should make the deal itself, because if it doesn’t, someone else will. Trump mocked the island’s defences, dismissing them as little more than “two dog sleds,” and warned that Arctic waters were already filling with Russian and Chinese destroyers and submarines. #donaldtrump #greenlandcrisis #greenland #denmark #russia #china #nato #mettefrederiksen Times Of India (TOI) Is The Largest Selling English Daily In The World.
