Not all store-bought hats fit well, and not every model truly suits you. Sometimes you have to try on dozens of options, only to never find "the one." There are also situations where you like the style, but the fabric is either too thin or, conversely, too coarse. And the prices for quality items can sometimes be unreasonably high. But there’s a great solution – sew a hat yourself! It’s not only easy but also cost-effective: you choose the material, the right size, and color, and in the end, you get a unique item that fits you perfectly. I decided to give it a try – and I ended up with a comfortable and versatile hat that can be worn with or without a cuff. It’s not as difficult as it seems! For this, I took soft knit fabric and, in just a few steps, made a reversible hat. It’s the perfect option for those who want an original accessory that fits in size and style. Determine the size. I needed a piece of knit fabric measuring 50×54 cm. 54 cm is the width of the hat, which can be measured directly on your head by placing the fabric to ensure it fits. Make the first seam. I stitched the 50 cm side but left 6–7 cm open – this opening will be useful later for turning it inside out. I turned the fabric so that the seam was in the middle, with the end at the back of the head. Add pleats. I formed inner pleats on both sides, joined them in the center, and stitched them to secure the shape. Final step. I folded the hat in half, joined the edges, and stitched them together so that it wouldn’t turn inside out while wearing. Then I turned it through the opening I left and hand-stitched it closed with an invisible seam. The result – a versatile and stylish hat that can be worn with or without a cuff. It fits perfectly on the head, and most importantly – it’s handmade and looks just as good as a store-bought one. Try to replicate it – and you will definitely succeed! Wishing you all the best!
