The Republic of Chile is a country on the South American continent, stretching along a narrow strip of land between the Andes and the Pacific Ocean, bordered by Peru, Argentina, and Bolivia. It is a multi-ethnic country inhabited by peoples such as the Quechua, Aymara, Mapuche, Rapa Nui, and, of course, descendants of Spanish colonizers, who constitute the largest portion of the country's population. Chile is one of the most developed countries in Latin America, characterized by a free market economy, democracy, sufficient comfort, and security for its citizens. According to many economic rankings, Chile competes with developed countries. However, this South American country has not always boasted high economic growth and democracy. Like any other Latin American country, Chile experienced expansionist Spanish colonialism, a protracted war for independence, civil wars, coups, and constant political fluctuations from implementing Marxism-Leninism to ultra-right dictatorships. Nevertheless, not all countries, like Chile, managed to overcome political despotism, economic stagnation, and enter a corridor of freedom and developed economy. How did Chile transition from chaos and instability to sustainable economic growth and avoid the false path of its Latin American neighbors? What can Ukraine learn from this country?
