AB’s(1st)　was : Fujimaru Yoshino (Guitar, Vocals, composition) ex-SHOGUN Makoto Matsushita (Guitar, Vocals, composition) Solo Guitarist, Arranger Yoshihiko Ando (Keyboards, Lyrics) ex- PARACHUTE Naoki Watanabe (Bass, Vocals, composition) ex- SPECTRUM Atsuo Okamoto (Drums, Vocals, composition) ex- SPECTRUM The accidental coming together of these guys, the AB's, was what one might call a true super band, a combination of five talents born in Japan in the 80's. The twin-guitarist combination of Fujimaru Yoshino, who led the Japanese AOR band “Shogun,” and Makoto Matsushita, a guitarist whose musical talents were unparalleled, was a miracle in itself. The two powerful rhythm players, Watanabe on bass and Okamoto on drums from the popular Japanese pop-funk and fusion band “SPECTRUM,” joined the band. And then keyboardist Ando from the then popular Japanese fusion jazz band “Parachute” joined to form a five-piece permanent band, an event that is hard to believe today. Not only were they top-notch players on their instruments, but each could compose, arrange, and sing. Each was also an arranger and a producer. The Western labels ignored them, denying them the opportunity to sign a formal release contract in the Western or international markets simply because they were Japanese.
