Future City Glasgow - the return on investment (ISCF - Mobility / Clean Growth)

In 2013, Glasgow competed against 29 other cities for a £24million award from Innovate UK to become a smart city. In securing that funding, Glasgow has managed to transform services and become digital innovators. Making connections between different problems, between different solutions and different players is fundamental to it. The programme has led to savings, additional opportunities, funding and efficiencies amounting to £144m. Cities are having to become smarter, safer and more sustainable to remain great places to live and work. A recent report shows that the programme has had a positive effect on the local economy and residents, delivering a return on investment of £144 million. The project demonstrates how technology and data can create integrated, digital public services that meet the changing needs of citizens, communities and businesses, in areas such as energy, health, public safety and transport. Scottish Secretary, David Mundell visited the City Operations Centre in Glasgow on 6 November 2017. He commended the project and the great results it has achieved for local businesses, visitors and communities.
