We visited Ajanta in April, 2024. It is one of the most interesting historical places in Aurangabad. On the banks of the Waghora River, there are 30 caves in a 'U' shape, all of which are Buddhist caves. Among these 30 caves, five (Caves 9, 10, 19, 26, 29) are Chaitya caves or prayer halls, while the remaining 25 are viharas. The best time to visit the Ajanta caves is from October to March, when they remain cool and dry. Additionally, July and August are months of heavy rainfall. The Ajanta caves are open every day from 9 am to 5 pm except Mondays. Two caves remain open even on national holidays.
