This is a really nice blade as far as I can tell. It is the L3A1 or SA80 bayonet, designed to attach to the L85A1, L85A2 and I believe also the new L85A3 rifles used in the British Military. It has a cutting edge so that it can be used as a knife, though mine did not come very sharp at all. The main purpose of a bayonet is to be plunged into the enemy's chest, and as such this one is designed to apparently split apart the ribs. I guess this rib splitting aspect is to enable deeper penetration into the body cavity. There are various tools that come on the full scabbard such as a metal wire cutter, wood saw, bottle opener and sharpening stone. All of which I do not have. I am considering buying the wire cutter attachment but it's not cheap at approx £25. So whether you, like me, want a nice all-rounder knife, you want to collect bayonets or you are making a zombie apocalypse display, I think this is a good thing to have. It looks like some survival knives or a bowie knife in some way, but since this is a genuine military knife, I would trust it to be good. Most "survival knives" I have seen have been made of terrible quality steel and are more of a gimmick or display piece rather than a serious tool. I re-profiled the cutting edge and sharpened it to my satisfaction. After cutting a bush limb of about 1 inch and slashing and stabbing the crap out of a big cardboard box, it did not ding up the cutting edge at all which is very nice. Though I have seen one YouTuber report they snapped the tip of their SA80 bayonet by dropping it on concrete or something, so I am wondering if this bayonet is tempered or not. If you have any experiences with the abuse this blade can take please comment below! Anyway, please like, subscribe, comment and I will see you next time! #military #militaria #bayonets
