1992 Mighty Max Trapped by the Arachnoid & Liquidates the Ice Alien

Mighty Max Trapped by the Arachnoid & Liquidates the Ice Alien Today we’re going to look at two more Mighty Max Doom Zone toys. The first Mighty Max playset is the Trapped by the Arachnoid. The back of this Doom Zone is stamped 1992. The outside of this set has a very creepy looking spider design complete with six green eyes. The body of the spider is molded to look hairy and that is carrying a bunch of what could be egg sacks. There is one big purple egg sack on the middle of its back. When the playset is opened, we see that the spider legs are actually from a giant spider figure. When the spider is removed, we can see it was perched on top of a purple cage that hinges open. The inside of the cage is splattered with blood and left over bones. Max can fit inside the cage. The interior of the Doom Zone’s floor is a stone dungeon with more blood splatters and bones that lead around to stairs on both sides and what looks like prison cells. There is a big purple machine on the first floor that spins around with foot pegs for Max on one side and a man spider on the other. The upper half of the Doom Zone has purple membranes hanging down in front of a wall decorated with skulls and more blood. The top of the floor of the Doom Zone has a control center where the experiments can be initiated. The second playset is Mighty Max Liquidates the Ice Alien. The back of this playset is stamped 1992. The outside of this Doom Zone is and alien face with really wide set eyes, silver teeth, and a protruding tongue. The forehead of the alien is complex latticework pattern that gives a peek at the interior. When we open the playset we see that the tongue is actually some kind of icy alien monster. The entrance to the Doom Zone is guarded by two icy sentinels that can spin and pivot to lunge at any trespassers. The aquamarine colored icy terrain is littered with mechanical parts. There is a figure of an alien in a mechanical suit with a teal face. The top half of the Doom Zone has more cybernetic parts before two white pipes lead up to the upper level. A white platform folds down. There are two more green tubes leading up to a column with more mechanical components. Maybe this is where the alien performs his experiments. So of these two sets I think the Spider one is more interesting. The Ice Alien set had a lot of potential but it just doesn’t have the little details that some of the other Doom Zones feature.
