Its commitment to its bizarre concept earned it a cult following. Later a sequel "Seaman 2: The Peking Man Rearing Kit" was released in Japan in 2007 at the top of the game charts. But despite this success and a lot of press, a planned Western release was ultimately canceled. It was just too niche of a game. Peking Man Rearing Kit is significantly different from the original Seaman. It's presented as a children's toy where you play god, but instead of sea monkeys, it's a 20cm tall hominid on his own private island. This is where you'll train Peking Man, or 'Gabo' in the ways of modern humans. You have god-tier powers like lightning bolts and wind to guide Gabo. I guess it's kinda like a pre-history Truman Show or episode of Survivor. With the noble end-point to our evolutionary path apparently being able to save up for a cool pair of puma sneakers. No joke, this is literally the point of the game. Honestly, the game is heavy in dialogue and hard to follow with the language barrier. But don't worry, HGH's got a full playthrough for you!
