In todays video we're looking back 2 years to the last weeks of Flybe's operations. Flybe ceased operations in March 2020 and this video is a remaster of a video I posted back in January 2020. I've always been looking for an opportunity to make some tweaks to the edit on this video and I decided that now would be a good time to do so, all the changes in this video are only cosmetic, meaning that all information is relevant as of when I first released the original video in January 2020. This includes my bold, and now incorrect, statement about Flybe managing to survive a shut down. Reflecting on this however, there are two things that I still believe hold true even to this day; Near the end of the video you will hear me say "The UK needs an airline like Flybe" and not, "The UK needs Flybe" Over the last two years we have seen airlines such as Loganair, Blue Islands, Eastern Airways and Aurigny expand to fill in Flybe's network. This shows that the UK does indeed need an airline (Or in this case multiple airlines) like Flybe. Another item that I wasn't even aware of at the time was the global pandemic that was lurking only a month away from uploading the original video. While the Corona Virus originated in 2019 and was present in parts of the world in January 2020, I don't think any of us could have predicted the life changing consequences this pandemic created. We have seen a drastic decommissioning of many aircraft types and airlines from all around the world and knowing what we know now, I don't think anyone would've seen hope in Flybe getting through the pandemic. If the pandemic never happened, I am confident to say that I believe Flybe would still be here. While 'Flybe' will be restarting operations in 2022, this is not the same airline as the Flybe we know. Officially the new Flybe is a new company with new management, the only similarity is the name, 'Flybe' On top of this it will start at a much smaller scale, as Flybe's aircraft have already been sold on for other uses. The old Flybe operated 54 Q400's, 10 E Jets and over 15 ATR-42 and 72 aircraft through agreements with Stobart air and Blue Islands. The new Flybe will only operate 20 Q400 aircraft to begin with and will only have a single base of operations at Birmingham airport. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Home Of Model Aircraft!
