Cost per tenant is one of the most popular trending topics in the SaaS industry today. Understanding and attributing costs at the tenant level allows businesses to optimize pricing strategies, improve profitability, and make operational decisions critical to the success of a SaaS business. Attributing costs to tenants can be challenging, however. While it's easy to track costs in silo deployments using simple tagging strategies, it becomes more complex in pooled multi-tenant environments where tenants share the same resources. In this episode, you'll learn how to implement coarse and fine-grained strategies for attributing cost per tenant in a pooled multi-tenant serverless environment using API Gateway, AWS Lambda, and Amazon DynamoDB. We'll also apply these same techniques to containerized workloads with Amazon ECS and other data storage constructs like Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL and Amazon S3. Finally, you'll gain visibility into cost per tenant by learning how to aggregate, query, and visualize the data using services like Amazon Athena and Cost and Usage Dashboards Operations Solution (CUDOS). By the end of this episode, you'll have a firm understanding of attaining cost per tenant to improve cost attribution and visibility for your SaaS organization.
