Winter storm bringing high impact to Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky this weekend

A winter storm is on the way for Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky, expected to hit late Friday night and last through Sunday. A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for all of Middle Tennessee and a portion of Southern Kentucky starting late Friday through Sunday afternoon. The latest update indicates a potential for ice, with heavy snow likely north of I-40 and a mix of snow, freezing rain across Middle Tennessee. Southern Kentucky likely sees only snow. Temperatures will drop below freezing Friday night and remain low through at least Tuesday morning, causing anything that falls to stick. Moderate ice accumulation could lead to downed trees and power lines, resulting in outages. Residents should start preparing for a multi-day storm with significant impacts expected through the weekend. The potential for heavy snow with totals between 6-10" possible with the higher amounts likely near the Kentucky state line.
