GitOps is without a doubt the way to manage your infrastructure and applications in a cloud-native world. GitOps agents like Argo CD or Flux do the heavy lifting for us by ensuring that the actual state of our Kubernetes cluster reflects the desired state declaratively defined in our Git repository. But GitOps is not providing us with a clear direction on how we can promote a desired state from one environment to the desired state in another environment. This results in a lot of companies bloating up their CI pipelines to somehow create a promotion process. This is not the way to go. Instead, use GitOps Promotion Tools to bring the promotion process back to GitOps. Let me show you three different GitOps Promotion Tools: Kargo, GitOps Promoter, and Telefonistka. I will explain how they work, what the pros and cons are, and how you can apply them in your GitOps workflows. I also deep dive into the new emerging pattern of "rendered manifests" and how it influences the promotion process. Additional notes On this page, I have most of my public talks listed: https://sessionize.com/engin-diri/ I am going to talk about following OSS tools: Argo CD Kargo GitOps Promoter Telefonistka Kubernetes About the speaker: Engin Diri: As a Senior Solutions Architect at Pulumi with over 15 years of experience in the IT industry, including roles at the Schwarz Group and W&W Versicherungen, I bring extensive expertise with an end-user and enterprise focus.
