Found across savannas, woodlands, and scrub regions, kudus move quietly through the landscape, blending into the trees with their vertical white stripes and muted coats. Males carry long, elegant horns that can twist more than two full spirals, while females are hornless and slightly smaller. Kudus are cautious, often freezing in place or leaping into dense cover when disturbed, relying on agility and camouflage rather than speed. Their presence is a signature of southern and eastern Africa’s wild areas, where they feed on leaves, shoots, and fruits while navigating terrain shared with predators like lions and leopards.
