Head Venerable Monk Bhikkhu Pannakara of Walk For Peace 2026 speaks at their night resting locating on 1/25/25, New Life Church in Rolesville, NC. This was Walk For Peace’s first day walking in ice and snow, therefore their first day all wearing boots (many had been walking shoeless). *Venerable Monk Pannakara said he had not planned to speak once he arrived at the resting place, due to the inclement weather (he wanted people to be safe and get home). However, there was already a crowd assembled so he changed his mind. The speaking place was outside, exposed to the elements. We all stood together and listened as Venerable Monk Pannakara spoke for 20 minutes, then the Mayor of Rolesville, NC. welcomed him. He and the other Monks passed out Peace Bracelets they’d made. All while it was sleeting, after they’d walked 20 miles in that weather all day, on one small meal. It was a miserable 12 hour day for them…I’m sure. But they were gracious, kind, warm, loving, and patient.
