Live performance of “I Who Repel All Light” by HÆRESIS. Recorded at the record release show for Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum on October 18, 2025, at Urban Spree, Berlin. ⸻ Lyrics & Meaning: Reclaim fire, reclaim the flame Our hearts burn for immolation We delve into depths never explored before Searching for solace Wandering in the grip of despair On the knees with bare hands in filth We crawl to reap the yield sowed with the seeds of doubt And witness their growth Towers of faith ablaze and turn to dust I who repel all light I who repel all light Towers of faith ablaze Towers of faith turn to dust Verses of redemption upon their tongues They claim it as enlightenment Trapped in a web of lies We are the ones who are doomed to drown In the roaring waves Cries are lost in the storm On the knees with bare hands in filth we crawl to reap the yield sowed with the seeds of doubt And witness their growth Towers of faith ablaze and turn to dust They crumble to dust I who repel all light (repel all light) Trembling souls bear the burden of false pledges Their blood runs cold in the face of deceitful serpents Lost in the eternal night Disbelief is the lone light We were promised Eden’s splendor Now fires of hell ignite our souls And we have forsaken all belief Mea culpa Mea culpa Mea culpa Mea maxima culpa . . . This title forms the conceptual core of HÆRESIS’ debut album and expresses the conviction that, in light of the current global polycrisis and the simultaneous hopelessness regarding a livable future, a pacifist stance toward aggressors can no longer be a socially viable option. Imperialist wars, the destruction of vital resources, the climate catastrophe, the resurgence of fascism, the oppression of women* and marginalized groups, and an increasingly obscene social divide between extreme wealth and poverty all demonstrate that the time of silent endurance is over. Or, as Bertolt Brecht famously stated: “Where injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty.” Across all four songs on the album, a multi-layered narrative unfolds: one of struggle, resistance, and defeat, along with the resulting existential questions, both for the individual and for society. The lyrics are written in the style of evocative ballads, oscillating between internal reflection and the concrete portrayal of lived realities. “I Who Repel All Light” is a declaration of resistance against religious manipulation and deception. The title itself stands in opposition to the often-preached concept of “enlightenment”: “I who repel all light” marks the moment of maturity when a person no longer submits but questions, resists, and defends themselves against religious ideologies, disinformation, and false preachers. ⸻ Film & Edit: Paloosa Production Additional Editing: Christin Graunke (@darkdarkgreyprints) ⸻ Production: Drums & Vocals Recording: Jan Oberg – Hidden Planet Studio Guitars, Bass & Synths Recording: Daniel Ringl – Lichtlaerm Audio Editing: Mike Low Mix & Master: Dave Otero – Flatline Audio ⸻ Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum was released on October 10, 2025 via Vendetta Records.
