London Live has a special Live from London: Chinese New Year programme from Trafalgar Square this Sunday, 22 from 3pm. http://www.londonlive.co.uk/programme... The lanterns have already started going up around Chinatown ahead of Chinese New Year on Thursday. As part of London Live’s celebrations of the Year of the Sheep, we met up with the host of this year's Chinatown parade, the actress and presenter Jing Lusi. The celebrations include lion dancers, dragon dancers and martial arts performances as well as delicious food stalls. As it culminates at the the end of half term, the festival will be very family orientated, with lots of community arts projects as well as the usual festivities. This date in the Chinese calendar is the biggest celebration for the whole year. Jing Lusi said: “We don’t have Christmas, we don’t have actual New Year or Easter so it’s a time were we all come together and celebrate.”
