The collar tags have an activation range of up to 3 feet from the door. The flap is made of durable Plexiglas so it should last much longer than conventional flaps. PetSafe now offers a tunnel kit for the Smart Doors. These tunnel kits allow for installation into walls from 3.5" to 7" in thickness. The Large Smart Door has the option of additional tunnel extensions for thicker walls. Currently the Small size does not have additional extensions.
