The batter should be the consistency of pancake batter. Here is my recipe for hoe cakes: 1 Cup of flour 1 Cup of Cornmeal 1/3 cup sugar 1 Tbl baking powder 1/2 teaspoons baking soda 1 teaspoon granulated garlic 1 teaspoon granulated onion powder 2 eggs 2 Tbl butter About 1 cup or more of buttermilk. Add liquid only to make it the consistency of pancake batter. This recipe can be cut in half. Prepare your pan as if you are making pancakes at the batter to the pan and cook turn once golden brown on the bottom. This recipe makes about 10 to 12 hoe cakes or if you cut it in half it makes about 6 or 7 hoe cakes. I hope you enjoy this recipe.
