Music by Samuel Mok Words by Audrey Wong From the musical “Lost and Found · A Legend of Chimes Story” Evelyn and James reflect on their journeys after a tumultuous battle against Darius. As motifs from “Purpose” are exchanged between instruments in a long instrumental interlude, the prophet appears, symbolising the fulfilment of the prophecy. Evelyn and James reprise the melodies previously sung by Astrid and Iris in the distinctive demeanours - James brings a comforting presence with tender orchestrations of harp and strings; and Evelyn sounding elusively out of place, presented in an ethereal soundscape enhanced by celesta, glockenspiel, and shimmering strings, revealing her bewilderment yet sense of solace in their shared struggle. A brief interlude introduces a resplendent key change as Evelyn’s original “Purpose” melody is reprised bittersweetly. The pair allow their newfound epiphany to sink in: the harder you try to look for your purpose, the further it seems. Modulating back to the original key, Evelyn and James are joined by the entire four-part chorus from both the 2023 and 1998 timeline, who lend their voices to the reprise with genuine sincerity accompanied by luscious orchestrations. The climax is reached as the two melodies are sung in unison, rounded off with a flourish of melodic fragments that resonate with vigor and exuberance.
