#BasicSKUpublicIP #JohnLewisAzure #AzureDailyMinute #AzureUpdates #AzureDiagnosticExtensions #Azure Basic SKU Public IP Addresses, and Azure Diagnostic Extensions. Hello, this is John Lewis, and welcome to your Azure Daily Minute for Tuesday, February 25th, 2025. Basic SKU public IP addresses will be retired from Azure on September 30th, 2025. Current Basic SKU public IP addresses will continue to function until the retirement date. Creating new Basic SKU public IP addresses will be available until March 31st, 2025. Standard SKU public IP addresses offer significant improvements over Basic SKU IP address. For example, a Standard SKU public IP address is required when deploying a Standard Load Balancer or deploying an Azure Firewall. A Standard SKU public IP is also required when using a Network Address Translation Gateway. Security, with a Standard SKU public IP address, is closed to inbound traffic by default. Inbound traffic must be allowed by a network security group. Basic SKU public IP addresses deployed in Azure with extended support will not be affected by this retirement notice and no action is required. Basic SKU IP addresses without extended support must be upgraded to a Standard SKU public IP address before September 30th, 2025. https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/upd... Azure Diagnostic extensions will be deprecated on March 31st, 2026. An Azure Diagnostics extension is an agent in Azure Monitor that collects monitored data from the guest operating system of an Azure virtual machine. This guest-level monitored data can include CPU, Disk, Network, and RAM. Collected data can be sent to Application Insights or to a Dianostic storage account. Microsoft recommends using Azure Monitor Agent to collect monitored data from guest operating systems. The Azure Monitor Agent delivers data to Azure Monitor for use by Insights, and other services, such as Microsoft Sentinel, and Microsoft Defender for Cloud. This agent can be installed on a single virtual machine or at scale by using Azure Policy. In some cases, this agent is installed automatically when required by services such as Microsoft Sentinel. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azu...
