Fully autonomous Develon DX225LC-7 excavator uses technology from Gravis Robotics

Peter Haddock caught up with Gravis Robotics Chief Technology Officer Dominic Judd to find out how it has worked with Develon engineers to develop the solution. Dominic: “You will notice that on top of the cab, we have mounted and integrated our autonomous roof kit. "This is the brains of the solution that turns this diesel powered excavator into an autonomous machine. “Inside the roof kit, we house computers driven by our AI software. They capture live data from cameras and lidar also mounted onto the machine. “Together, this technology combines to support the variety of tasks that the machine will be needed for. “The machine itself is controlled by directly linking our system to the CAN bus, which gives us access to the electro-hydraulic control system. “In this demonstration, we are showing it digging a trench and loading an ADT.
