I have spent the last few years running different tyres and this is a compilation of my fastest lap on each at Sydney Motorsport Park's GP circuit in my 2021 Cayman GT4. The car has front camber plates and Rear toe arms to help with the alignment. All laps were on green tyres running OEM 20 inch sizes, except for the "old" AD09 lap, which were 5 track days old at that point. This really highlights the durability of the AD09's, lapping within 2/10ths of a green set and still faster than green (N1) Cup 2's. I have been through 3-4 sets each of the Cup 2's and AD09's so have a lot of experience with both but this is the first time I have ever driven on A052's, so I haven't really had a chance to maximise their performance yet, I expect their true pace to be 1.2-1.5 seconds faster than the AD09's. But they are more prone to overheating, wear faster and are a lot more expensive. The factory Cup 2's are really obsolete in this use case as they perform worse than the AD09's in basically every way, peak lap times, longevity, wet performance and cost. Probably the only good thing I have to say about them is while both Yokohamas seem prone to developing high speed vibrations as they start to wear, the I have not had that happen with the Michelins. The N1 variant is due for an update from Michelin. Durability wise, I find with the Cup 2's after 4 track days, even though they might have plenty of tread left their lap times fall off a cliff to the order of 2+ seconds, and they aren't great in the first place but become downright scary in the wet. The AD09's on the other have can still lap within a fraction of their best lap times after 4-5 events and can quite comfortably do 7-8 track days before wearing down to the point where their performance is gone. I hope to update in the future with durability observations on the A052's but after their first heat cycle they noticeably lost some of their peak performance.
