Embarking on an unforgettable journey from Laughlin, Nevada, to the enchanting Tusayan, Arizona, our adventure brought us to the threshold of the awe-inspiring South Rim of the Grand Canyon. We traversed immense stretches of the iconic Route 66, also known as the "Main Street of America," soaking up its rich history and vibrant culture in our trusty Tesla. Our electric steed, a testament to Tesla's technological marvel, carried us through the stunning landscapes and historic relics that adorn the route, only halting for essential charging stops. Our first charging point was Kingman, Arizona, often referred to as the "Heart of Historic Route 66." Here, we made full use of the Supercharger and simultaneously embraced the opportunity to delve into local culture, visiting the Route 66 museum and various local landmarks. Next, we made a stopover at Williams, Arizona, aptly named the "Gateway to the Grand Canyon." Here we planned to tap into an Electrify America charger. However, a local power outage provided an unexpected twist to our journey. But, as with all epic road trips, such surprises added an extra dash of excitement and adventure. Despite the minor setback, we managed to steer the course successfully. Traveling the length of Route 66, we immersed ourselves in the iconic highway's rich narrative. Its transformative role from being a beacon of hope during the Dust Bowl migration in the 1930s to its revitalization efforts post-decommissioning, Route 66 has indeed carved an enduring mark in the annals of American history and culture.
