January 29, 2013 would have been Lloyd Perryman's 96th birthday! Lloyd Perryman (1917-1977) was one of the most foundational members of the Sons of the Pioneers. Brought in to replace vocalist Len Slye (Roy Rogers) after he left the Sons of the Pioneers, Lloyd was the originator of the close stacked harmonies that made the Sons of the Pioneers a hit across the world. His gorgeous tenor voice and broad vocal range (Lloyd could sing anything from bass to high tenor), added a distinct sound to the arrangements of the Pioneers until his death in 1977. Without Lloyd, it is safe to say that the Pioneers would not have been what they were. To read more about Lloyd Perryman, visit: http://www.bobnolan-sop.net/Biographi... Lyrics to this song: Do not trust him, gentle lady, though his voice be low and sweet Heed not him who kneels before you, gently pleading at thy feet Now thy life is in its morning; cloud not this thy happy lot Listen to the gypsy's warning, gentle lady, trust him not Lady, once there lived a maiden, young and pure, and like thee fair But he wooed and wooed and won her, filed her gentle heart with care Then he heeded not her weeping, nor cared he her life to save Soon she perished, now she's sleeping in the cold and silent grave. Do not turn so coldly from me, I would only guard thy youth From his stern and withering power, I would only tell the truth I would shield thee from all danger, save thee from the tempster's snare Lady shun that dark-eyed stranger, I have warned thee, now beware Keep thy gold, I do not want it. Lady, I have prayed for this For the hour when I might foil him, rob him of his expected bliss Ah, I see thou art bewildered by my looks, so cold and wild Lady, in the green grave yonder lies the gypsy's only child This video, like all the music slideshows on the Ken Carson Tribute channel, is best viewed in HD (top option when you click the gear icon under the video) fullscreen.
