Program: Combinatorics, Geometry, and Representation Theory ORGANIZERS: Vyjayanthi Chari (University of California, Riverside, USA), Raghavan K. N (Krea University, India), Venkatesh Rajendran (IISc, India) and Milen Yakimov (Northeastern University, USA) DATE & TIME: 17 November 2025 to 28 November 2025 VENUE: Ramanujan Lecture Hall, ICTS Bengaluru SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE MEMBERS 1. Michel Brion (Université Grenoble Alpes, Institute Fourier, France) 2. Shrawan Kumar (University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, USA) 3. Peter Littelmann (University of Cologne, Germany) The meeting will bring together mathematicians working in combinatorics, geometry, and representation theory. A primary focus will be recent developments in Schubert varieties, flag varieties and future directions. A systematic study of the combinatorial aspects of Schubert calculus was developed by Lakshmibai, Musili, and Seshadri in the 1970s and 80s and is known as Standard Monomial Theory; it is now regarded as a fundamental tool for studying Schubert varieties. The path model developed by Peter Littelmann is one of the cornerstones of the subject. The concepts surrounding Standard Monomial Theory remain highly relevant to contemporary research. The first week of the program will feature a workshop comprising four mini-courses (each with six hours of lectures) covering key themes in modern research that are relevant to Schubert varieties and flag varieties: Flag Varieties, Degenerations, and Quiver Grassmannians – Evgeny Feygin, Tel Aviv University, Israel Monoidal Categorifications of Cluster Algebras and Quantum Affine Algebras – David Hernandez, Université Paris Cité and Sorbonne Université, CNRS, IMJ-PRG, France Cluster structures on flag varieties and applications in particle physics – Lara Bossinger, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Mexico These lectures are intended for graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and scholars interested in working in the field. The second week of the program, titled "Combinatorics, Geometry, and Representation Theory," will serve as a major gathering for researchers studying Schubert and flag varieties and related topics from diverse perspectives. The event aims to showcase recent advances in representation theory, combinatorics, and geometry; highlight interactions with other areas of mathematics and physics; and inspire researchers to explore open problems and challenges. The program provides an opportunity to honor the powerful and lasting mathematical legacy of Venkatramani Lakshmibai. Young mathematicians are strongly encouraged to apply, particularly those interested in these areas. CONTACT US: [email protected] PROGRAM LINK: https://www.icts.res.in/program/cgrt
