In this FME Live session, I'm trying to create a custom transformer to validate CSV files. This came from a conversation on Twitter about CSV files and the problems they have. By working on the problem "live" there are a lot of moments when I look puzzled and say "errrrrrr"; particularly when I'm trying to figure out the Generic port on the FeatureReader transformer. I'll try and improve that in future videos. What I like about my solution is using both CSV and Text File readers to give me two different views of the data. I'll publish this to the FME Hub today, but I think that there are a lot more tests I could potentially add. So take a look at the finished transformer and tell me what you think. Is it a good technique to have my tests in parallel streams, or should I just put them all into the same stream of data? It looks more elegant, but I am duplicating the data each time. Hmmm.
