A Night to Remember: Prom 2018 at Shriners Hospitals for Children ­– Northern California

On Saturday, April 28, Shriners Hospitals for Children ­– Northern California rolled out the red carpet to welcome patients and their guests to its second annual hospital prom. Billed as A Night to Remember, the event began with hair and make-up appointments in the early afternoon followed by limousine rides and a dance in the hospital auditorium. The spectacular event was punctuated by cheers, tears and memories to last a lifetime. These patients, ages 16-19, truly enjoyed a full prom experience — made even more meaningful by fact that many were unable to attend their own high school proms due to hospitalization or physical challenges. Proud parents and hospital staff lined the red carpet as the patients arrived for the prom. Some danced with wheelchairs, some with walkers, and others with braces or artificial limbs especially designed for them at Shriners Hospital. Orchestrated by our Therapeutic Recreation & Child Life team, all the finishing touches were made possible by a kind and generous community.
