If you liked the video, please like and subscribe :) We had a blue bathtub sitting in our carport in the last 6 months or so from the bathroom reno work completed in April. We wanted to give it away initially, but reconsidered and thought it would serve well as a raised garden bed/planter/container. I'll take you through the simple design and steps taken to repurpose the tub. The cladding was put on for aesthetic reasons (because I like things to look nice as well as functional). if you have a nice standing bathtub, you could either let it sit on the ground or elevate it on a structure similar to how we built ours. I also drilled 2 additional holes in the tub for draining purposes. We spent about NZD120 on timber materials, and maybe a few dollars to replace the broken drill bit! We also have a lot of birds and insects in the garden (one bird sat and watched me while I transplanted new saplings, it knows!), so I made an effort to construct a purpose-built insect cover so we won't need to use pesticides on the veges. The bamboo stakes and insect netting costed a total of NZD30. We don't have much gardening experience, but have been recommended to try out this 'lasagna gardening' soil method (Google it for more info) by using up free garden waste as the foundation of the raised garden bed soil mix. We didn't have enough waste and added another 150L of potting mix + compost. The cost for that was NZD30.
