County Durham has some of the most beautiful countryside and market towns and there’s a great way to see it. The Weardale Railway takes you on an 18 mile journey from Stanhope to Bishop Auckland. We decided to hop on board from Stanhope and head to Wolsingham, enjoying 6 miles on the 1958 class 122 Bubble Car! There’s so much wildlife to spot! From deer to herons and farm animals which Charlotte loved to see and once you reach Wolsingham, the options for a hot drink and food are fantastic, including the lovely Pegottys. The weardale railway trust provides volunteers who help maintain the line and stations and they also put on events such as a fantastic Easter bunny hunt, which Charlotte had so much fun doing. Definitely worth looking out for and enjoying if you are visiting this lovely area.
