End to end: teaching, learning and assessing in the communicative language classroom

Where does teaching end and learning begin, and when does assessment come into the picture? Can we actually make that distinction, or is it like trying to determine when the coffee ends and the milk begins in a latte? In this session, we will explore the ways in which teaching, learning and assessment connect in the communicative language classroom, and how assessment can be the golden thread that binds all the elements and tells the story from the moment we think about what we want to teach to the last instance of testing after all is said and done. About Pablo Toledo Pablo Toledo is Senior Assessment Services Manager for Southern Cone and Andes in CUP&A. He is an English teacher and teacher trainer with a Postgraduate Advanced Certificate in Educational Assessment from the University of Cambridge and a Diploma in Education Policy from Universidad Torcuato Di Tella. Before joining Cambridge, he managed projects in the areas of remote teaching, internationalisation of higher education and language teaching to refugees for the British Council and led the Education department of the Buenos Aires Herald newspaper. He is the president of LAALTA (Latin American Association of Language Testing and Assessment).
