Good morning from Rutland, Vermont. In this episode I wrap up the final logistics of my LASH and begin the journey home. I started the morning at the post office, shipping my trekking poles and other gear I can’t bring on a plane. I had stayed the night at The Yellow Deli — a warm bed, hot shower, and a simple but great breakfast of rice, eggs, and coffee before heading into town to wait for my airport ride. What I didn’t know was that Rutland doesn’t actually have Uber or Lyft service, even though online listings say otherwise. After my scheduled ride failed to appear, I found myself scrambling to track down shuttle drivers with no luck. With a little help from folks at the hostel, I finally secured a ride to the Rutland Southern Vermont Regional Airport. A good reminder of a lesson the trail teaches often: it’s okay to ask for help. I arrived early, took time to breathe, hydrate, and look out at the tiny airport runway and the small plane that would carry me out over the mountains. From Rutland I flew to Boston — where I reunited with my boyfriend Manny and celebrated the end of my hike. After 811 miles completed on this LASH, it was surreal to step off trail, share stories, and soak in the moment. See you next summer for my 2026 LASH!!
