4k60 New York Cycling Path: East River Greenway Bike Path along FDR Drive (2020)

To subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/c/NYCscooting... Filmed in August 2020 during phase 4 of NYC reopening. The route started at East 200th and ended at East 155th St via #EastRiverGreenway. The #EastRiverGreenway aka FDR Drive bike path is much quieter compared to #HudsonRiverGreenway. If you prefer abundant green nature, definitely visit the beautiful biking or running paths in #NewYork. The entrance of this footage is at East 200th St. NOTE: Enjoy the #EastRiverGreenway waterfront view in the best quality by setting the VIDEO QUALITY to the possible highest resolution! The East River Greenway is around a 9-mile biking/walking path on the east side of Manhattan. It is divided into two sections- the upper greenway and the lower greenway. This video is about the upper greenway which runs from East 155th Street to East 200th Street. The lower greenway runs from Battery Park to 125th Street. In between 125th and 155th are residential streets connecting the two halves of the greenway. The upper greenway along the FDR drive on the East River is filled with beautiful bridges and is directly along the water for much of the path. The east river is much quieter than the western greenway. There is less traffic in terms of cars, and a lot fewer cyclists and pedestrians. For reference, you can check out our video about the Hudson River Greenway for comparison. But why is this? The East River Greenway does not go all the way from the top to the bottom of Manhattan like the Hudson River Greenway. The upper part of the East River Greenway is also a bit bumpier as the bike roads aren't as well managed. There are also fewer exits and entrances to the streets along the way. Once you are on the bike path, you will end up at 155th or 200th street. Despite it not being as popular, it also makes it much more peaceful to ride. There are many places to sit and enjoy the view of the Alexander Hamilton Bridge, the High Bridge and the Macombs Dam Bridge. While Citibike is a decent option for renting bikes and enjoying the pathways of New York City, be aware that there aren't currently stations near this path. It is better to rent a bike somewhere else or just take a run or walk if you can. Overall, this quiet East River Greenway (upper) is quite peaceful and hidden from many tourists.
