The Art of Becoming - 2026 Power Series Day #9 WE ARE CHOSEN Primary Scriptures: Ephesians 1:4; John 15:16 4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. Theme: Chosen Before You Knew You Were Wanted Introduction Many people spend their lives trying to be selected—chosen for schools, jobs, teams, friendships, or approval. Rejection shapes insecurity, but divine selection reshapes destiny. Scripture tells us something radical: before you ever qualified, applied, or proved yourself, God chose you. 1. CHOSEN BY GRACE, NOT PERFORMANCE Text: Ephesians 1:4 4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love God’s choosing is not reactive; it is intentional and eternal. Before creation, God saw you fully—your strengths, weaknesses, failures, and potential—and still chose you. This destroys performance-based Christianity. Illustration: A mother adopts a child before the child can ever clean the house or earn affection. The child’s obedience flows from belonging, not toward it. Key Truth: You are not chosen because you are holy; you are chosen to become holy. Reflection: 1. What lies have shaped how you view God’s acceptance of you? 2. How does knowing you were chosen before creation change your confidence? 3. Where are you still trying to earn what God freely gave? Affirmation: I am chosen by God before the foundation of the world. My identity is secure in Him. 2. CHOSEN FOR PURPOSE, NOT PRIVILEGE Text: John 15:16 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. Jesus makes it clear—being chosen comes with responsibility. We are not chosen to sit, but to go and bear fruit. Election leads to mission. Illustration: A seed selected by a farmer is not chosen to remain on a shelf, but to be planted, broken, and fruitful. Key Truth: God’s choice empowers calling, not complacency. Reflection: 1. What fruit is God calling you to bear in this season? 2. How can your choices reflect your divine assignment? 3. Are you producing fruit that remains? Affirmation: I am chosen to bear lasting fruit that glorifies God. 3. CHOSEN TO CHOOSE GOD DAILY Being chosen by God invites a daily response. Grace is not passive—it fuels obedience. Illustration: Marriage vows are spoken once, but lived out daily. Choice sustains relationship. Reflection: 1. How do you actively choose God each day? 2. Where is God asking for deeper surrender? 3. What distractions compete for your loyalty? Affirmation: I choose God daily because He first chose me. Call to Action: Share today’s truth with someone struggling with rejection.
