Tension erupted at Azim Premji University, near Sarjapur in Anekal taluk, Bengaluru, after members of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) allegedly forced their way into the campus on Tuesday evening. The protest was staged over claims that a proposed student programme promoted separatist ideas related to Jammu and Kashmir and insulted the Indian Army. According to university officials, around 20 protesters broke open gates, shouted slogans, vandalised property, blackened the university nameplate, and allegedly assaulted students and security guards. ABVP claimed the programme was linked to the Kunan-Poshpora incident and organised by a student group allegedly backed by AISA. However, the university clarified that no such event was authorised or held, and condemned the intrusion by what it called an external group. Police from Sarjapura rushed to the spot and took several ABVP activists into preventive custody to avoid further escalation.
