DCS World - Impalas hunting Hinds in South African Border Wars, Angola 1985.

In 1970s and 1980s, South Africa was involved in a series of wars which are usually known as South African Border Wars. One of them was the civil conflict in Angola. While Cuba and the Communist block supported the government forces, the opposing UNITA was getting support mostly from the Republic of South Africa. In 1985, government and Cuban forces launched an offensive which required their forward troops to be supplied by helicopters. In order to stop the choppers, South Africans selected an unlikely candidate - a locally produced light attack aircraft named Impala, developed from Italian Aermacchi MB-326 trainer. With pilots lacking training for this kind of a mission, and enemy MiG fighters controlling Angolan airspace, and powerful Mi-25 HInd helicopters escorting the transport Mi-8s, this mission was anything but routine. As this video is made, MB-339 is still available as a free mod for DCS World. It is being developed as a commercial module and this version will stop receiving support.
