Please support us with a like and/or subscribe to keep the Our Band Show community going strong! ShortWave RadioBand began in 2020 as a duo. Lonny on electric guitar and Andy on acoustic guitar. They would play cover tunes in the corner of a couple of local breweries and before too long, started to get booked at more and more places. At one of these gigs, they met John Woods. John mentioned that he was a drummer, lived locally and wanted to jam sometime. A few days later, they jammed and after locking in on some songs, knew it was a match. At that first jam session, Andy switched from acoustic guitar to Bass and SWRB as a power-trio was born. Soon, they had released two singles (Don't Care and SomeDay) and were gigging regularly. Both of their first 2 singles received not only local airplay, but charted on a web-based radio station in the UK's Top 20 Countdown. The songs were on the countdown for a combined 10 weeks and "SomeDay" made it in the top 5. After having Abby sit in at a gig to play the Trumpet on "Someday", they asked her to join as a full-time member. Just a few weeks later, while pondering the idea of adding another guitar to complete the line-up, John mentioned his buddy Ryan, We called Ryan over to our rehearsal space, and without ever hearing him play a note, asked him to join the band. The band immediately went to work on writing more original material and quickly released "So Long, The Hopeful" and a true-to-the-original cover of "Jingle Bell Rock". They released a video for "So Long, The Hopeful" that features several members of other local bands, who they have met along the way. They have played at dozens of venues in the Albany area and have built a reputation as being a fun and supportive band. They have headlined Putnam Place twice and played the main stage at Nipperfest '23. Whether they are on a big stage, or playing in a small club, ShortWave RadioBand is gonna give you a good time. Their music has been described as Punk, Garage, Rock and Reggae, all rolled into one. They are high energy songs that put more of an emphasis on making you move, than making you think. They are fast, fun and friendly.
