*This video is for entertainment and educational purposes only. If your pet is sick, take them to see your local veterinarian for the care they needed* (Disclaimer) Hi Everyone! My name is Dan, and I am a veterinarian. In today's video I cover entropion or an rolled eyelid. A rolled eyelid in a dog is very common. When the eyelid rolls inward it is called an entropion. An entropion or inward rolling eyelid is painful for a dog. The eyeball has a lot of nerves in the cornea, and when the hairs on the eyelid rubs up against the eyeball when a dog blinks...Ouch! That will really hurt. The dog might squint or rub at the eye, because it hurts so much. Having an entropion for an extended period of time will cause chronic pain to the eye and even cause a corneal ulcer. A veterinarian, like myself, will fix an entropion will surgery. We will do a procedure that will pull the eyelid down and away from the eyeball. This will prevent the rolled inward eyelid, with its hairs, from causing trauma to the eyeball whenever the dog blinks. In this video I will cover what an entropion or rolled inward eyelid will look like, how I diagnose it, and how I surgically fix an entropion.
