Widespread unrest across Mexico, following the weekend killing of cartel boss Nemesio "El Mencho" Oseguerea Cervantes, the head of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel. Americans traveling through Mexico are being told to "shelter in place," though Mexico's President says "peace, security, and normalcy" are being maintained, at the same time some crime experts are warning that a full-scale, violent civil war could erupt to fill "El Mencho's" shoes. As the situation unfolds, Cher Calvin and John Fenoglio are joined by Retired Marine Intelligence Officer Hal Kempfer. Kempfer also breaks down the unfolding situation in Iran, as a new round of demonstrations erupt and President Trump weighs whether to strike the Islamic Republic amid contracted nuclear talks. Kempfer also comments on the ongoing war in Ukraine, which marks 4 years this week, the Russian involvement now longer than the Soviet's involvement in World War II. February 23, 2026.
