What if I told you this one girl found a way to bypass all that to get your credit card information? She didn’t invent this method. This method has been around for a while. But she’s the first scammer we caught that was successful with it. It involves a scam link and since she sent it to someone that trusted her, it was easy for them to click the link, ultimately, losing their Xbox accounts. A viewer sent me evidence of his former friend that hacked his Xbox account and made some fraudulent charges with his credit card that was on his Xbox account. Apparently, she managed to get his information by having him click on the link she sent him. From there, she attempted to change his information and attempt to lock him out of his Xbox account. Thankfully, he had 2fa enabled so she couldn’t lock him out of his Xbox account. But before he force logged her out of his Xbox account, she stole his credit card that was on file. She made some fraudulent charges before she lost access to his Xbox account. Those charges were of her gifting games and other Microsoft/Xbox services to a different email. Since the charges were resolved from what the victim told me, the scammer technically stole from Microsoft, assuming the gifted services were not repossessed by Xbox. So not only did she betray one of her friends for whatever reason, she stole from a multi-billion dollar company, and commit credit card fraud. The simple little link she created caused a felony just like that. And even though this takes place on Xbox and Discord (the internet), it’s still illegal. Cyber laws are in place for a reason. And whatever smooth crime she thinks she pulled off, will catch up to her.
