The student was reportedly taken to a guard room under false pretenses, where she faced severe physical assault. The main accused has been identified as Monojit Mishra, also known as Mango, a former student and student union member. Along with him, two current students, Zaib Ahmed and Pramit Mukhopadhyay, and a college security guard named Pinaki Banerjee have been arrested in connection with this serious crime. A medical examination at Calcutta National Medical College confirmed multiple injuries. A Special Investigation Team under Assistant Commissioner of Police Pradip Kumar Ghosal is leading the inquiry, and the Detective Department of Kolkata Police has now taken over the case. CCTV footage from the campus, phone records, and other physical evidence have been collected as part of the investigation. The Bengal Higher Education Department has directed the college to take strict action against the accused. Several political groups have demanded an independent inquiry, citing possible influence due to Monojit Mishra’s political connections. The Calcutta High Court has also been approached to ensure a fair and transparent investigation.
