It proved that there were areas of the apocalypse still unexplored, and it proved that post launch support does not need to be exclusive to live service games. If you need any indicator of the game's success, then look no further than its sales. Any game that sells this much in a market this saturated can only be due to pure quality. Dying Light followed the story of Kyle Crane, a man sent into the middle eastern city of Harran to investigate an infection that caused it’s victims to resemble something all too familiar, but what Dying Light did to separate itself from its contemporaries was expand on mobility; the greatest means of defense against insurmountable hordes. Dying Light 2 is one of the most conflicted games I have covered. Playing Dying Light 2 Stay Human directly after playing Dying Light 1 for so long gave me whiplash. I didn't make a Dying Light 2 review at the time because I figured a full Dying Light 2 critique was better suited. The Dying Light 2 gameplay would be where a majority of my Dying Light 2 Stay Human review would cover, but theres some Dying Light lore here, though for full understanding I recommend you watch a Dying Light Lore explained video, as you won't get that from this Dying Light 2 analysis. This Dying Light 2 retrospective looks at how Techland saved Dying Light 2 has changed, because Dying Light 2 in 2025 is a completely different game. It's good they sorted this game out before Dying Light The Beast comes out, and I will try to have a Dying Light The Beast review out when it releases.
