#Mangolpuri #sanjaygandhihospital #Delhipolice #dfs #sultanpuri In the Mangolpuri area of the national capital Delhi, chaos erupted yesterday when a 25-year-old man named Rahul Mandal climbed onto the roof of Sanjay Gandhi Hospital and created a high-voltage drama. Due to his actions, medical services and emergency operations were disrupted for several hours. Dr. Mrityunjay Singh, Medical Superintendent of Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, Ajay Sharma from Delhi Fire Service (DFS), and Addl. DCP Narra Chaitanya from Outer District — all senior officers — made continuous and tireless efforts for several hours to rescue the young man. According to the information received, Rahul was addicted to drugs, and when he couldn’t arrange money for his fix, he climbed onto the hospital’s roof and began creating a scene. However, Rahul’s family claims that they had earlier admitted him to a rehabilitation center, but he escaped from there. He left home on his bike and, instead of returning, broke the hospital’s lock around 4 a.m. and climbed to the top. Once there, he began demanding certain medicines and injections to satisfy his addiction and threatened that if he didn’t get them, he would jump off the roof. The fire department and Delhi Police worked together to devise a rescue plan — mattresses were laid on the ground, safety nets were installed, and officers tried to bring Rahul down safely. As anticipated, Rahul’s foot suddenly slipped, but because of a rope tied around his leg, he hung against the wall for a while. Eventually, he was rescued safely. People often say that addiction destroys families, but the truth is, it destroys society, order, law and order, the environment, and the overall system. This entire incident clearly shows that addiction is not just an individual problem but a social one. When one person falls victim to it, their family, system, and society all suffer. It’s time to treat addiction not merely as a crime, but as a social disease, and fight against it collectively — so that young people like Rahul don’t end up destroying their lives and dreams.
