Major snowstorm of up to 30 centimetres in the weekend forecast for Montreal. Quebec is in the middle of its first real snowstorm of the winter this weekend and, this time, the snow will stay on the ground with a return to colder temperatures coming at the start of the week. Quebecers will generally have to shovel between 15 and 35 cm of snow by Sunday, depending on the location, or even up to 50 cm of snow in the Gaspe. In the greater Montreal area, between 15 to 20 centimetres of snow will fall by Sunday morning, according to Environment Canada forecasts. Environment Canada has doubled its estimate since Wednesday, when it issued a special weather statement warning that up to 15 centimetres of snow mixed with rain was on the horizon. It now says it expects a minimum of 15 centimetres and as much as 30. The warning about rain is no longer part of the statement. However, it still predicts the temperature will stay around zero until midweek next week, when it will plunge to about -10 degrees Celsius. ------------------- Montréal is a vibrant, charismatic and welcoming city. Eventually editing. For the moment I cannot dedicate more time for the project. I love Montreal and I want to stay here for many years.
