Hundreds of student protesters met in front on Place de la Republique in Paris on Thursday, slowly marching to Place de la Bastille in protest against the eviction of Roma children from France. Students chanted slogans such as '1st, 2nd, 3rd generation, we are all children of immigrants". Scuffles between students and teachers took place earlier Thursday morning after school entrances were filled with garbage bins, angering many teachers who insisted that certain entrances be left open for security reasons and that some students be let in in order to take their exams. Police were present at the protest, but arrests were few and far between.
