The current home of Indian President Ram Nath Kovind is the largest residence of any world leader. The Iron Gates welcome you to Rashtrapati Bhavan, a vast 330-acre presidential estate featuring hidden chambers inside its walls, historic artifacts worth millions, and expensive portraits, chandeliers and furniture dating back to when its construction began in 1912. Designed by architect Edwin Lutyens, the president’s palace is surrounded by famous structures like the Tuscan Pillars and Rampurva Bull. It’s also home to a Buddha statue dating back to the 4th century and the iconic Mughal Gardens, featuring hundreds of different types of flowers. The presidential residence used to be the Viceroy’s House. Rooms like the Ashok Hall and Banquet Hall still hide many secrets from the past. The Durbar Hall has a 2-tonne chandelier and is used to host formal occasions, while the State Library has 2,000 rare books. There’s also a museum within the palace walls, known as the Marble Hall Gift Museum, which contains thrones and gifts given to Indian Presidents throughout history. There are golf courses, stables, polo grounds, tennis courts and staff quarters. Are you ready to explore one of the most opulent residences in the world? From the Guest Wing with its famous Dwarka Suite that has hosted many world leaders to the Family Wing in the North West Wing of the palace where the President lives, let’s head inside Rashtrapati Bhavan and see the hidden features and luxury within one of the world’s most impressive buildings.
