There was a new face at today's Port Arthur city council meeting ...that of new city manager Brian McDougal. His first week at post...he already has one priority in mind...fixing downtown's water and sewer infrastructure. After today's city council meeting, city manager Brian McDougal got to work on some pressing problems in Port Arthur. "I'm still learning about what is going on in town but I understand we have some water and sewer infrastructure issues so it will be exciting to get involved in those as well," said Brian McDougal. Economic growth and development downtown is something he wants and believes can be accomplished in the long term. "Here we have an EDC that gets dedicated sales tax dollars that runs it and we can attract and keep industry and certainly the business community through the chamber and those two partnerships are really important for us to work with them so we can grow Port Arthur," says McDougal. He hopes to turn the city's crumbling landscape downtown into a positive. "Port Arthur's downtown is like a blank slate right now we can start over like when it first built. And I know there are some great things that are already in place that I learned about," says McDougal. Through partnerships with industry leaders Brian McDougal hopes one day to see live and work in downtown Port Arthur.
