92220 EVENING STAR Newcastle Central Station 9 March 1985 - RARE!

A real historic gem this. Video I never thought I'd see. The mighty Evening Star hauls the Newcastle and Carlisle 150 commemorative train on the loco's one and only visit to the north east. The 9f sets off from Newcastle and 'races' an HST across the King Edward Bridge trading hooters.Then there is a nice shot of the long demolished Greenesfield sheds at Gateshead, now a boxy housing estate but once home to thoroughbreds like Silver King. I was on this train and made every journey between Newcastle and Hexham throughout the day. Just think 92220 was less than 30 years old when this movie was shot. Now long dormant here is a chance to see the Star shine again! Transferred from ancient VHS so forgive the dropouts! From the collection of the late John Hannan, railway enthusiast.
