These IKEA Hemnes nightstands were twelve years old and starting to swell and delaminate. Instead of replacing them, I refinished them with paint and created a subtle wood grain effect for a vintage look. This is a simple, low cost and forgiving process you can use on old or damaged furniture, even laminated pieces. No structural changes. No perfection required.
