Túrin Turambar faces Glaurung at the gates of Nargothrond - Graphite drawing process timelapse

Glaurung, Rey de Nargothrond 🏰🐉 Glaurung el Dorado, el Gran Gusano de Morgoth, primero de los Urulóki de Angband, Padre de los Dragones, y autoproclamado Rey de Nargothrond, es uno de los dragones más importantes (si no el más importante) del legendarium del profesor J.R.R. Tolkien, personaje esencial en las historias de El Silmarillion y Los Hijos de Húrin, y con un papel clave en la expansión de los ejércitos del Señor Oscuro Morgoth a través de la Tierra Media. Es descripto como una gigantezca serpiente escupefuego, con cuatro patas y sin alas (los dragones alados como Smaug aparecerían más tardíamente en la historia de Arda). De tamaño descomunal y gran fuerza, no había quien pudiera enfrentarse a este draco. El hedor que desprendía su cuerpo era capaz de quebrar la voluntad de quien osase acercarse a él, su lomo estaba recubierto por una coraza impenetrable, y la tierra y los árboles ardían a su paso. Su enorme poderío físico sólo era superado por sus dotes mágicas mentales, las cuales ejercía a través de su penetrante mirada viperina. Con esas artes mágicas fue que la enorme criatura llevó a la ruina a Túrin Turambar y Niënor Níniel, desviando al primero de su camino y llenando su mente de dudas, y borrando la memoria de la segunda y llevándola a la locura, lo cual conduciría eventualmente a ambos al suicidio, significando así el final del linaje de Húrin de Dor-Lómin. Inspirado en el mito nórdico del dragón Fafnir, la única manera de vencerlo fue emboscarlo en una quebrada sobre un río, y apuñalarlo en su suave vientre cuando el dragón cruzase por sobre el acantilado. Aquí vemos el primer encuentro entre Túrin y Glaurung a las puertas de la devastada ciudad de Nargothrond. Tolkien, an essential character in the stories of The Silmarillion and The Children of Húrin, and with a key role in the expansion of the armies of the Dark Lord Morgoth throughout Middle-earth. He is described as a gigantic, four-legged, wingless, fire-breathing serpent (winged dragons such as Smaug would appear later in Arda's history). Huge in size and great in strength, there was no one who could stand against this drake. The stench that his body gave off was capable of breaking the will of those who dared to approach him, his back was covered by an impenetrable armor, and the earth and the trees burned as he passed. His enormous physical might was only surpassed by his magical mental gifts, which he wielded through his piercing viper gaze. It was with these magical arts that the enormous creature brought Túrin Turambar and Niënor Níniel to ruin, diverting the former from his path and filling his mind with doubts, and erasing the memory of the latter and driving her to madness, which would eventually lead both to suicide, thus signifying the end of the lineage of Húrin of Dor-Lómin. Inspired by the Norse myth of the dragon Fafnir, the only way to defeat Glaurunf was to ambush him in a gorge above a river, and stab him in its soft belly as the dragon crossed over the cliff. Here we see the first time Túrin faced Glaurung at the gates of the devastated city of Nargothrond.
